Our History
Our Cardiff, CA, hotel was built in 1991 as a beautiful and quaint ocean getaway. The lodge was founded and built by two well-known residents of the small town of Cardiff-by-the-Sea, James and Janette. One was an architect, the other an interior designer. When the couple first bought the property, they had ideas for a small hotel. Before building began, the couple went on a trip through Europe for their 25th wedding anniversary.
Today, the Cardiff Lodge sits with views of the beautiful Pacific Ocean, flowers that bloom year-round, and stunning nightly sunsets over the water. The lodge still possesses the distinctive rooms and qualities that James and Janette designed many years ago, ensuring a one-of-a-kind experience for guests.
